DAVID
Today we’re going to talk about Web seals.

BETHANY
Web seals?

DAVID
Yes.

BETHANY
Great!

DAVID
You do know what web seals are, right?

BETHANY
Yeah…

DAVID
Hi I’m David Congreave and this is my assistant Bethany Rudkin. One of our viewers, Omar Martin, has asked if we’d create a song for his new website, IMTrustworthy.com. Bethany, I thought this was a job you could handle?

BETHANY
Yes!

DAVID
OK – so you think you can handle this?

BETHANY
Absolutely.

DAVID
Excellent. So login to our Elance account and see if you can find someone who can create a song for us for, say, $50.

BETHANY
Or . . .

DAVID
Well… I suppose we could go as high as $100, but definitely no more. I mean, I like Omar, but I don’t want to go nuts.

BETHANY
Or…

DAVID
Or… you could write the song?

BETHANY
Yes…I could write the song.

DAVID
OK – you’re confident you can do this? Can you fit it in with your other work?

BETHANY
Well, I think I’d be better just focussing on this job, if you want a really good song. Can you manage without me for a bit?

DAVID
How long do you need?

BETHANY
Erm… a week, 10 days max.

DAVID
…OK

BETHANY
Are you sure you can manage without me?

DAVID
Yeah, it won’t kill me to make my own coffee for a while.

BETHANY
Good.

DAVID
OK – now you need to make sure you include the main details about what makes IMTrustworthy different from other web seal programs.

BETHANY
OK – I know what a web seal is but, for the benefit of the viewer, could you explain what a web seal is?

DAVID
Good idea. A web seal, or trust seal is a small logo that commercial websites can place on their sales page that is supposed to indicate that customers can trust the vendor. The problem for the customer is that they have to trust the company that’s certified the vendor, and that’s assuming the web seal is genuine to begin with.
What Omar’s site, IMTrustworthy, does differently is that, rather than trying to act like the Internet police and monitor all of their customers, they provide something akin to a social networking experience, where other members can provide feedback on the trustworthiness of the businesses that display an IMTrustworthy button.

BETHANY
That sounds good.

DAVID
It is. Businesses that display an IMTrustworthy seal, also have to provide a full list of contact information so that customers can contact them directly if they want to confirm that they’re legitimate.

BETHANY
OK – I think I can work something like that into the song.

DAVID
Good. The other thing you’ll want to mention is that, whereas other trust seal providers charge a LOT of money to use their seals, Omar’s site can be used for free for one site and, even if you want to add a seal to multiple sites, then the upgrade cost is very reasonable.

BETHANY
OK – I’ll go get started.

DAVID
Hang on! Can you make me a coffee before you go?

DAVID
Welcome back, Beth, how did you get on?

BETHANY
Good – I slaved away for two weeks on this song – shall I play it for you now?

DAVID
Sure… hang on … you’re looking very tanned.

BETHANY
Oh, yes, I always do my best composing on the beach.

DAVID
Right.

BETHANY
OK, do you want to accompany me?

DAVID
I could do a dance!

BETHANY
No.

BETHANY
What do you think?

DAVID
It’s quite good.

BETHANY
OK – can we discuss payment now?

DAVID
Payment? I already give you a salary.

BETHANY
Yes, but I had expenses.

DAVID
You want me to pay your airfare to the Dominican Republic?

BETHANY
I told you, I compose my best music on the beach. Where do you think I got that drum?
